PNCA faculty emeritus Arvie Smith and alumnus Demian DinéYazhi' are amont the artists and poets featured at this year's Reed Arts Week, a five-day arts festival organized by Reed students and featuring Reed student artwork and the work of select visiting artists. This year RAW takes place March 1-5. Also featured is keyon gaskin, a member of Physical Education movement group who have been in residence at PNCA's Center for Contemporary Art & Culture.
These artists join Rodrigo Venezuela, Betty Yu, Pochas Radicales, Molly Soda, Elissa Washuta, and manuel arturo abreu, whose work is currently on view in Gallery 157 at PNCA in an exhibition curated by Nat Turner Project (MFA in Visual Studies students Melanie Stevens and maximiliano).
The theme of this year's RAW is Borders. The curators, Charlie Perez '17 and Daphne Lyda '17, say, "Through Reed Arts Week: Borders, we seek to provide a space in which these ideas, anything from political borders to ornamental framing designs, can be engaged."
