Pacific Northwest College of Art (PNCA) at Willamette University announced a new specialized transfer pathway program designed to create a seamless transition for Portland Community College (PCC) students pursuing BFA degrees in art and design.
Although PNCA and PCC have had a general studio arts transfer agreement in place since January 2023, the new transfer partner pathways establish clear academic pathways for PCC students to transfer to PNCA's Illustration, Animated Arts, and Graphic Design Bachelor of Fine Arts programs, ensuring that students are able to spend two years at PCC and two years at PNCA in order to earn a BFA degree from Pacific Northwest College of Art at Willamette University.
“Students enrolled in the pathway program will receive dedicated academic advising, personalized portfolio development support, access to exclusive events, and a streamlined admissions process,” says Anna Miltenberger, Dean of Admissions for PNCA. “This agreement underscores our commitment to transfer student success and college affordability, ensuring a smooth transition from PCC to PNCA. Students can complete their degrees in just four years, spending two years at PCC and two years at PNCA, with substantial need-based and merit-based scholarships available to support them throughout their journey. On top of our generous admissions scholarships, students who follow our transfer pathways will also be eligible for an additional $5,000 Transfer Partner Scholarship, renewable annually.”
The transfer pathways are available for students in four disciplines: Animated Arts, Graphic Design, Illustration, and Studio Arts. Each pathway is tailored to align PCC coursework with PNCA's curriculum requirements, ensuring students can transfer credits efficiently and continue their artistic development without delays.
Students enrolled in the pathway program will benefit from dedicated academic advising, portfolio development support, exclusive events, and a streamlined admissions process. This agreement demonstrates our commitment to both transfer students and affordability, ensuring that students will have a seamless transition from community college into PNCA, all while graduating within four years, spending two years at PCC and two years at PNCA with significant need-based and merit-based scholarships.
To begin the pathway program, students can fill out this form to get connected with their PNCA Admissions Counselor.
