No small college in the country has more graduates than Willamette University serving in the Teach For America program this year. Seven alumni joined the teacher corps, tying for the top spot among colleges with less than 3,000 students.
Teach For America is a nationwide organization that recruits promising leaders to teach for at least two years in a low-income community. By expanding opportunities for children and developing a network of community leaders, the program seeks to “shape the broader system in which schools operate.”
