Willamette’s affordability, academics and social life distinguish it as a “hidden gem” among institutions in the Pacific Northwest and nationwide.
College Raptor, an online college planning tool, recently named Willamette on two lists of “smaller universities that may initially be overlooked” for 2019 — Hidden Gems in the U.S. and Hidden Gems in the Northwest, comprising six states.
Colleges are selected for the lists based on factors such as median SAT/ACT scores and selectivity index. To qualify for Hidden Gem status, universities must receive fewer than 5,000 applications a year and enroll fewer than 7,000 undergraduates.
Willamette also ranked No. 13 in College Raptor’s top 25 Best Colleges in the Northwest for 2019, as well as 2018.
The list covers universities in Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Alaska and Northern California.
