Visiting Assistant Professor Ambrin Ling in the Studio Art Department is one of ten finalists for The Bennett Prize for women figurative realist painters. Her mixed-media paintings were selected among hundreds of entries by a four-woman jury including Gloria Groom, curator at the Art Institute of Chicago; The Bennett Prize co-founder Dr. Elaine Melotti Schmidt; and artist educators Margaret Bowland and Angela Fraleigh. Ling's mixed-media paintings combine figuration with landscapes and domestic architecture to explore the relationship between the formation of self and place. Her work will be exhibited in the Muskegon Museum of Art in May of 2025 and travel across the country for two years. She is also up for a $50,000 grand prize and $10,000 runner up award.
