Baccalaureate is a ceremony of celebration and reflection on the communal journey of the graduating class. At Willamette, the service is planned by senior students, supported by the University Chaplain, and created to be inclusive, so that students and families of all faith traditions, spiritual orientations, and world views feel welcomed, engaged and connected. With a variety of readings, music, and reflections the ceremony is meant to honor and celebrate the graduates. The purpose of the service is to express gratitude to students, families, and all those who have influenced the graduates.
The Office of Spiritual and Religious Life will be selecting a five-person committee to plan and organize the 2023 Baccalaureate ceremony. This work includes selecting a theme, planning the order of events, inviting speakers and performers, and generally shaping the tone and nature of the event. You do not have to be spiritually or religiously affiliated to be on the committee. If you’re interested, please fill out the form below.
