The Associated Students of Willamette University, the official student government body for all students in the College of Arts and Sciences, is hiring for two now open paid positions in the judicial and executive branches.
The judicial branch is looking for a new justice. Justices assist the chief justice in responding to conflicts within ASWU and reviewing legislation before being voted on in the Senate, as well as filling in for the chief justice in Senate meetings in case of absence. Justices are expected to work two to three hours a week and serve a year long term starting in January 2023 and ending the following December. The executive branch is looking for a new acting press secretary. As a member of the executive council, the press secretary is expected to attend weekly Senate meetings and executive meetings, and to communicate the contents of these meetings frequently, proactively, and transparently with the student body. The duties and responsibilities of the press secretary also includes publishing a monthly newsletter, holding press conferences on campus as needed, and overseeing all public outreach efforts, specifically with official student media organizations. The press secretary is expected to work five hours a week and is paid $1,000 a semester in Leadership Awards. Applications close Friday, Jan. 20 at midnight.
