Earlier this year, Professor Gary Knight, was elected Vice President of the Academy of International Business (AIB). Professor Gary Knight formally assumed his position on August 1.
The AIB is the leading association of scholars and specialists in the field of international business. Established in 1959, AIB is headquartered at Michigan State University.
The AIB has about 3,500 members from more than 90 countries worldwide.
Professor Gary Knight is also a Fellow of the AIB, a permanent designation. There are about 120 AIB Fellows out of the total membership, representing the most accomplished scholars in the field of international business.

Gary Knight is Professor of Global Management and the Helen Jackson Chair in International Management at Willamette University - Atkinson Graduate School of Management (Willamette MBA). He has co-authored seven books, including two textbooks on international business. He has won awards for teaching at Willamette University and at Florida State University (FSU). He directed FSU’s International Business Program for 15 years. He created and has been lead instructor of 18 study abroad programs in Asia, Europe, and Latin America.
Gary’s research emphasizes “born globals”, international entrepreneurship, internationalization, international marketing, and technology’s role in international business. Gary is ranked one of the top 15 most cited scholars in International Business at Google Scholar, and one of the most cited scholars in International Marketing.
Prior to joining academia, Gary was an executive in international business for several years, focusing on Europe, Japan, and Mexico. The U.S. House of Representatives invited him to provide expert testimony on international business. Gary earned his MBA at the University of Washington and PhD at Michigan State University. He also attended the University of Paris in France and Sophia University in Japan.
