The Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) has launched a new monthly series to create informal opportunities for Willamette community members to explore issues around diversity, equity and inclusion and meet people on and off campus who are actively involved in these discussions.
The series kicked off in September with a conversation with Willamette’s new vice president for equity, diversity and inclusion, Jade Aguilar.
The next event, on October 24 from 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m., is a meet and greet with new faculty members of color in the College of Liberal Arts, including Michael Nino (sociology), Omari Weekes (English), Rosa Leon Zayas and Carla Parker-Athill (biology), Saghar Sadeghian (history), Shatha Almutawa (religious studies), and Vincent Pham and Catalina de Onis (Civic Communication and Media Studies).
All faculty, staff and students are welcome and attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch. Light refreshments will be served. The October event will be held in the new Student Center for Equity and Empowerment, located across from Goudy Dining Commons and attached to the Lee-York Residence Halls.
