An estimated 1,200 family members returned to campus and reunited with their students to enjoy Family Weekend’s packed program of activities.
The event’s student coordinators, Asalia Arauz ’19 and Erica Noble ’19, had been planning the weekend since spring, and their hard work paid off.
The Second City Touring Company show on Saturday night attracted close to 800 attendees. Other popular events were the Mini University Sessions with faculty members, music department concerts, a hike to Silver Falls and ZenaFest. Willamette Theatre’s sold-out production of “An Inspector Calls” earned rave reviews from attendees, while athletic events were also well-attended and the Homecoming tailgate barbecue proved popular with families.
“Family members commented about how well-organized the student coordinators were, and people were excited about the wide variety of event and activity choices,” says Emily Morris, associate director of student activities. “The weather was so nice, and it was great to see families enjoying downtime outside all over campus.”
Morris and the student coordinators extend their thanks to everyone on campus, from facilities and Bon Appetit staff to faculty members, for their work to make the event such a success.
