Wi-Fi quality and signal strength has improved in Willamette residence halls following wireless network upgrades by the university.
Throughout summer and fall, WITS staff members performed several upgrades, in part, to help halls better adapt to a growing number of devices. WITS increased the university’s network bandwidth by 25 percent in January, added 350 wireless access points and made other changes.
Students appreciated the upgrades. In email survey, about 50 percent of students reported good or excellent coverage, while average-or-better signal strength increased from 55 percent to 80 percent.
WITS will continue working to maintain optimal signal strength and keep interruptions to a minimum.
