Updates on the 21st session of the Conference of the Parties, otherwise known as the COP21 climate summit, have filled media airwaves over the past two weeks – and Willamette student Jake Kornack ’17 has been there to experience it first-hand.

As part of a global ambassador program by Conergy, a global developer of solar energy projects, Kornack traveled to Paris to report on history in the making. He also rubbed shoulders with thought leaders, heads of state, dignitaries, business leaders and other celebrities who are there to shed light on one of the most important issues of our generation.

In what Kornack referred to as “one of the most profound days” of his life, he interviewed scientist Jane Goodall, President of the California Senate Kevin de Leon, CEO of Solar City Lyndon Rive and California Governor Jerry Brown, among others.

Kornack also had a short conversation with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, who posed for a photo with him after discussing the U.S.’s role in establishing a binding climate agreement.
