Congratulation to Caroline Fowler (’16) who received a Carson Grant to complete her project titled “Examining the Role of the Built Environment on Obesity: A Policy Paper”. This research examined the impact of the built environment on the prevalence of obese adults in East Los Angeles. The policy paper that she authored draws upon findings in the field and data collected from the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and was focused on the benefits of pedometer based weight loss interventions.
