Through a new grant, psychology professor Jim Friedrich and politics professor Sammy Basu will study the topic of self-control.
Friedrich and Basu received $49,508 from The Philosophy and Science of Self-Control Project at Florida State University, which is supported by the John Templeton Foundation. The project aims to improve understanding of self-control and identify ways to enhance it.
The grant also provides Willamette undergrads with valuable research opportunities. Four students will work full-time on the project during the next two summers and on a limited basis during subsequent academic years.
