With the help of a grant from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust, chemistry professor Alison Fisher will continue to study how and why plants exchange gases with air.
The $36,100 grant will enable three undergraduate chemistry majors to work with Fisher on her research, which has already been supported by Willamette’s Science Collaborative Research Program (SCRP).
So far, 51 students have collaborated on projects with Fisher, either as part of a chemistry course she teaches or for an independent research project.
Past support from the Murdock Charitable Trust has enabled four Willamette students to co-author a manuscript about heath star moss, which is scheduled for publication in the September issue of the peer-reviewed journal, Plant Physiology and Biochemistry.
