Willamette ranked No. 10 for number of alumni serving in Peace Corps

Willamette University ranked tied at No. 10 among small schools this year for having 11 alumni volunteering worldwide through the Peace Corps.

Year after year, Willamette places in the top colleges list. Since the Peace Corps was founded in 1961, more than 300 Bearcats have served with the organization.

Following the Willamette motto, “Not unto ourselves alone are we born,” these undergraduate alumni are continuing a tradition of service they began as students. Willamette undergrads volunteer an average of 44,000 hours annually.

The Peace Corps strives for world peace and better understanding between Americans and the people of other countries. Volunteers commit to 27 months of service, working around the world on causes ranging from AIDS education to information technology and environmental preservation.
