On its “Colleges That Pay You Back” ranking, The Princeton Review named Willamette University fourth among the nation’s “Best Schools for Making an Impact.”
Willamette and Whitman College, 20th, are the only universities in the Pacific Northwest earning a spot on the top 25 list for making an impact.
Based on survey responses and student ratings, the “Best Schools for Making an Impact” considers colleges’ community service opportunities, student government, sustainability efforts and on-campus student engagement. The Princeton Review also factored into the ranking PayScale.com’s percentage of alumni from each school that reported high job satisfaction.
“Service and civic engagement are central to Willamette’s ethos and our motto, ‘Not unto ourselves alone are we born,’” said Eric Lassahn, director of the university’s Office of Community Service Learning. “Our shared sense of responsibility for others leads to transformative outcomes for our students, who make a positive impact on the world.”
