Payton Barronian featured in Out Magazine

by Marketing & Communications,

In "Meet the Emerging Artist Queering Your Favorite Films," OUT Magazine features MFA in Visual Studies candidate Payton Barronian with his new video, presenting, that features five "femme-identified New Yorkers" performing iconic monologues originally written for and delivered by cis straight white males in films such as Network and Apocalypse Now.

Barronian notes that the monologue is "a constructed space of extreme authority."

"Growing up, I never saw people like me performing monologues like that in blockbuster movies," they continue."A big part of this video is about asking what if this was the world? What if these queer bodies and voices were retroactively put into those iconic spaces of authority?"
