Demian DinéYazhí included in Honolulu Biennial

Congratulations to alumnus Demian DinéYazhí (Naasht'ézhí Tábąąhá, Tódích'íí'nii)who has been selected for inclusion in the upcoming 2019 Honolulu Biennial TO MAKE WRONG / RIGHT / NOW curated by Nina Tonga!

Honolulu Biennial 2019 features 47 artists and artist collectives from Hawai'i and the countries and continents linked by the Pacific. During the two-month run of Hawai'i's largest contemporary art festival, there will be 90 free public programs and 10 exhibitions sites.

Closer to home DinéYazhí is presenting an artist talk at the Portland Art Museum tomorrow night. Tickets for this event are sold out.

Demian DinéYazhí is an Indigenous Diné transdisciplinary artist born to the clans Naasht'ézhí Tábąąhá (Zuni Clan Water's Edge) and Tódích'íí'nii (Bitter Water). DinéYazhí grew up in the colonized border town of Gallup, New Mexico, and the evolution of their work has been influenced by ancestral ties to traditional Diné culture and ceremony, matrilineal upbringing, the sacredness of land, and the importance of intergenerational knowledge.
