BLIGHT Issue 05 Launches

by Marketing & Communications,

Issue 05 of BLIGHT, an annual magazine published by PNCA's MFA in Collaborative Design program is now available. This issue of the free magazine explores the dynamic complexity of public space from a variety of perspectives. The issue takes an expansive look at public space to include articles on digital spaces, an interview with Nidhi Gulati of Project for Public Spaces, a history of the Pearl District by Randy Gragg, and a report on Portland's housing and homeless crisis by Katy Mays, plus a series of abstract prints by Harry Schnieder that reflect ideas associated with the Columba River Gorge. Congratulations to the team, including Victoria Wells, Amanda Schurr, Michelle Vorce, Celina Coppetti, and Joel Newman.

The MFA in Collaborative Design faculty and students apply their skills in design, programming, entrepreneurship, science, art, photography, journalism, making, engineering, education, and community activism through a lens of systems thinking, problem identification, research, stakeholder engagement, facilitation, resilience, and iteration to tackle projects such as design/maker/public spaces to empower community; interactive systems for treating and preventing pediatric migraines, PTSD, and chronic illness; restoring ecosystems through conservation/product/market design, and many more. Students focus on real-world team-based projects, while driving toward an individual capstone thesis that provides a vector for future work upon graduation. Read more on the MFA CD tumblr.
