Willamette University accreditation renewal site visit scheduled for Oct. 5–7

by University Communications,
Waller Hall

Willamette University will host the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) to perform an Evaluation of Institutional Effectiveness on October 5–7, 2026. The evaluation, a routinely scheduled visit as part of the renewal process every seven years, will examine the university’s compliance with NWCCU accreditation standards and policies. During the visit, an NWCCU peer evaluation team will be meeting with Willamette students, faculty, staff, and trustees.

Willamette University has continuously held accreditation through NWCCU for more than 100 years, since 1924, and last had its accreditation reaffirmed in February 2020. NWCCU accredits Willamette University at the baccalaureate, master, and doctoral degree levels.

Prior to this evaluation visit, students, employees, and members of the public may provide comment on Willamette University’s qualifications for accreditation. As a general rule, third-party comments are usually general comments of a substantive nature about a member institution.

Third-party comments may be submitted to the Commission office via US Postal Service, courier, or via NWCCU’s online form. A link to this form and more information about the third-party comment process can be found on the NWCCU website. To be considered, all comments must be signed and delivered to NWCCU ten calendar prior to the visit — the comment period will close on September 25.

You can learn more about the accreditation review at Willamette on the University Accreditation website.
