Fortune Magazine names Willamette #1 Master’s in Data Science in Pacific Northwest

Once again, Willamette University is the only school in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest named to Fortune Magazine’s 2025 list of “Best Master’s in Data Science Programs.” The program is ranked #14 nationally, up eight from last year’s ranking.

Fortune evaluated programs based on factors such as admissions criteria, retention, and graduation rates. Willamette also received high marks in affordability, ranking #23 nationally on Fortune’s list.

Data science continues to be one of the most in-demand fields and fastest-growing professions in the United States.

Willamette’s undergraduate and graduate programs in information and computer sciences help meet the region’s need for professionals who can apply their skills to lead the future. Willamette graduates have gone on to careers in technology, state and local government, healthcare, the arts, and more. With faculty bringing wide-ranging experience in computer science, data science, and statistics, the university is home to the largest concentration of teaching expertise in this field among peer institutions in the region.
