Willamette University is the only school in Oregon and the Pacific Northwest named to Fortune Magazine’s “Best Master’s in Data Science Programs in 2024.” The program is ranked #22 nationally, up six places since 2022.

Fortune evaluated programs based on factors such as admissions criteria, retention, and graduation rates. Data science is the third-fastest growing occupation in the United States, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Housed in its School of Computing & Information Sciences, Willamette’s undergraduate and graduate programs in information and computer sciences have seen rapid growth over the past few years. Graduates have gone on to careers in high-tech, state, and local government, healthcare, and the arts. With faculty bringing wide-ranging experience in computer science, data science, and statistics, the university is home to the largest concentration of teaching expertise in this field among peer institutions in the region.
