The College of Arts and Sciences Office of Admission is resuming in-person visits and events this fall.
“We know that one of the most effective ways to influence a prospective student’s likelihood to enroll is to have them on campus, interacting with professors and current students,” says William Mullen, vice president for enrollment management. “Thank you in advance for the warm welcome you provide to our visitors, your generosity of time, and your understanding as we navigate offering in-person visits with continued health and safety precautions.”
Every effort will be made to ensure the safety of all office visitors as well as the Willamette community, including conforming to all current campus health and safety protocols. These measures include, but are not limited to:
- COVID screening questions during the visit registration process
- Instruction and enforcement of the masking mandate (i.e. all visitors will remain masked throughout the entirety of their time on campus, both indoors and outdoors)
- Proof of complete COVID vaccination will be required and verified upon check-in with the Office of Admission
Below you will find details on what visit elements and admission events are being offered to prospective students this fall.
Daily Campus Visits
Schedule: Three visit blocks, including an information session, campus tour, and optional admission interview, Monday through Friday. One visit block is offered on Saturdays when an in-person event isn’t taking place.
Additional visit elements: Prospective students will have the option of customizing their visit with activities that will allow them to more deeply connect with our community. We are aiming to begin offering these additional elements by Oct. 4.
- Class visits - Faculty, please watch for an email from the Office of Admission asking if you would like to opt-out of offering any/all of your classes to visiting prospective students. You may also indicate the number of spots available for visiting prospective students in your class(es).
- One-on-one meetings - Many prospective students request to meet specific community members who work in areas aligned with their interests. We greatly appreciate your receptiveness to receiving these requests and the time you are willing to share with our prospective students.
Contact: The Office of Admission has hired a new Campus Visit Coordinator, Hayden Dentinger. Hayden’s first day will be Sept. 27. As we work to onboard and train Hayden, please direct questions about the daily campus visit program to Caitlin Harper, director of admission marketing and events, at charper@willamette.edu.
