Only six matching gifts for student scholarships left

by Office of Advancement,

An anonymous donor has given Willamette $1 million in matching funds to inspire the creation of new endowed scholarships.

That means when a donor makes an outright gift or multi-year pledges of $100,000 or more to create a new endowed undergraduate scholarship or adds a minimum of $100,000 to an existing one, matching funds of $50,000 will be added to that scholarship.

A $100,000 endowed gift will cover a portion of a student’s financial need each year — bridging the gap that can make a Willamette education possible. A scholarship can be named for you or for someone you choose to honor. And because these scholarships are endowments, the earnings will support generations of Willamette students forever.

Your scholarship has the power to help recruit the strongest students, ensure greater diversity, equity and inclusion, and attract students who excel in our newest areas of our academic growth such as data science, public health, the arts, and sustainability.

Since the matching gift challenge was announced, 15 scholarships have been created. If you want to make a pledge before the matching funds run out, contact Vice President for Advancement Shelby Radcliffe at sradcliffe@willamette.edu.
